On November 2,2021 my mom woke up in excruciating pain. We went to the doctor and followed protocol for a kidney stone. A CT showed that her kidney stone was 7mm so the doctors set her up to see a specialist the following Friday, November 5, 2021. (Sepsis and Kidney Stones)

By Friday, she had coded for 2 minutes. Lab work revealed she was in septic shock due to the kidney stone.(Sepsis and Septic Shock) She was in the ICU a total of 9 days, 6 of those days she was on a ventilator. Her blood pressure was so low she was placed on 3 different vasopressors to keep her stable. She stayed in the hospital for 19 days total and came home just in time for thanksgiving. Since then, our life has been filled with countless doctors appointments. The vasopressors used to save her life also changed it forever. She is facing amputation of both hands and feet. (Sepsis and Amputations) She is the strongest woman we know! There were no signs or symptoms that told us she was septic. I’ve learned so much about sepsis through this experience. My mom is a walking miracle!
