About Sepsis Alliance
Sepsis Alliance is the leading sepsis organization in the U.S. working in all 50 states to save lives and reduce suffering from sepsis. Sepsis Alliance is a charitable organization run by a dedicated team who share a strong commitment to battling sepsis.
Our Vision: A world in which no one is harmed by sepsis.
Our Mission: Save lives and reduce suffering by improving sepsis awareness and care.
The organization was founded in 2007, by Dr. Carl Flatley, whose daughter Erin died unnecessarily of sepsis when she was 23 years old. Sepsis Alliance was created to raise sepsis awareness among both the general public and healthcare professionals. Sepsis awareness can and does save lives, yet only 71% of American adults have ever heard the word. Sepsis Alliance gives a voice to the millions of people who have been touched by sepsis – to the survivors, and the friends and family members of those who have survived or who have died. Survivors and those left behind often feel as if they are alone.
The Sepsis Alliance team is working on producing as much information and educational material as is possible to help the general public become aware of this often deadly condition, and for professionals who can then help the public learn about sepsis when it does strike. This material includes the information available on this site, brochures (also available in Spanish), and videos.
