AMR Patient Alliance

B.U.G.S. Classic

The Erin Kay Flatley B.U.G.S. Classic Inshore Fishing Tournament was established in 2003 by Jennifer Flatley Anderson as a way to honor her sister. All monies raised benefit the Erin Kay Flatley Memorial Foundation for sepsis awareness.

C.Diff Foundation

The foundation’s mission is to out to medical practitioners, caregivers, and patients combating a C. difficile infection (CDI), while providing the general public important information on prevention, treatments available, and EPA registered products available for environmental safety.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The health protection agency for the United States, the CDC saves lives and protects people from health threats. Children’s Hospital Association

Consumers Union

Consumers Union is the policy and action division of Consumer Reports. We work with our million plus activists to pass consumer protection laws in states and in Congress. We hammer corporations that do wrong by their customers, and encourage companies that are heading in the right direction.

The DAISY Foundation

Inspired by incredible nursing care Patrick Barnes received during his 8 week illness, DAISY partners with over 1,400 healthcare organizations. The DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses provides on-going recognition celebrations throughout the year, honoring direct care nurses for their compassion and skill. The Foundation also provides grants to nurses doing research and evidence-based practice projects and honors nursing faculty for their extraordinary teaching and inspiration of nursing students.

End Sepsis

End Sepsis, formerly The Rory Staunton Foundation, was established after Rory’s death from sepsis in April 2012. The foundation seeks to reduce the number of sepsis caused deaths through education and outreach aimed at faster diagnosis and effective treatment of sepsis, particularly in children.

Michigan Hospital Medicine Safety Consortium – Sepsis Initiative 

HMS’s sepsis initiative was launched in 2021 and full implemented in all 69 HMS hospitals in early 2023. They work to reduce short-term mortality and long-term morbidity of sepsis throughout the state of Michigan through audit and feedback, education, facilitated implementation of best practices, and sharing of successes and challenges between their hospitals. They focus broadly on sepsis care from initial presentation through post-hospital follow-up. Their work is informed by a detailed sepsis registry including patient-reported outcomes collected 90-days post-discharge.

Michigan Surgical Quality Collaboration

MSQC is a collaborative of Michigan Hospitals dedicated to overall surgical quality improvement, including better patient care and lower costs. We are multidisciplinary and inclusive as we work together to transform surgical quality and deliver care that is cost effective.

Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society

PIDS is the world’s largest organization of professionals dedicated to the treatment, control and eradication of infectious diseases affecting children. Membership is comprised of physicians, doctoral-level scientists and others who have trained or are in training in infectious diseases or its related disciplines, and who are identified with the discipline of pediatric infectious diseases or related disciplines through clinical practice, research, teaching and/or administration activities.

Peggy Lillis Foundation

The Peggy Lillis Memorial Foundation works to increase prevention of and minimize death and disability resulting from clostridium difficile infection and associated diseases by educating physicians, patients, and the public at large, and by advocating for proven solutions within health care and public health systems.

PEW Charitable Trusts: Antibiotic Resistance Project

Pew’s antibiotic resistance project supports policies that would spur the creation of new antibiotics by removing the regulatory, economic, and scientific obstacles that impede antibiotic discovery and development, establish stewardship programs to ensure that antibiotics are prescribed only when necessary in human health care settings, and end the overuse of antibiotics in food animals.


PFCCpartners has implemented hundreds of patient/family engagement programs across health system settings. From national improvement programs to small rural hospitals and everything in between. We bring experience engaging patients and family caregivers in highly technical collaborations – including research and measure development.

Pulse Center for Patient Safety Education & Advocacy

Pulse programs are a combination of guidance from national patient safety organizations and solutions garnered from the stories shared by patients and families about what works for them. Participants in our interactive community presentations and workshops learn from each other’s experiences with the support of Pulse trained facilitators. In addition to raising awareness about preventing medical errors in community meetings, Pulse offers bedside advocacy support, and training of friends and family to be skilled patient advocates for their loved ones. Our Family Centered Patient Advocacy Training is also useful for starting a career as a professional patient advocate.

Safe Care Campaign was founded by Victoria and Armando Nahum in 2006 after 3 different members of their family were infected in 3 different hospitals in 3 different states in just 10 months’ time. Their mission is to prevent healthcare and community associated infections.

The materials presented here and on the VW-APP is meant to raise awareness and empower people to recognize sepsis early themselves.   It is also provided to help you feel comfortable and equipped  to alert your healthcare providers of  your concerns and to engage them in testing for and promptly treating this deadly syndrome.
