Survivor

I was diagnosed with sepsis on August 17, 2018. It was caused by a tear in my large intestine. (Sepsis and Perforated Bowel) It was so infected that it delayed diagnosis and treatment. 9 days into my hospital stay, I had the surgery. Then I had every complication one could imagine.

I was in ICU for 8 weeks, 6 weeks in a medical induced coma. At that point, I had 9 specialty doctors in my care. During this time, I had to be left absolutely still. This led to my nerves to my muscles to be turned off. When I woke up, I could barely wiggle a finger. I went to a rehab facility where I had the best physical therapist who helped me to start walking again. I came home in wheelchair and had to regain my strength again. My whole hospital journey started on August 17, 2018- December 4,2018
