Kathy A. Whatley

Survivor

Due to diverticulitis, my intestines ruptured. (Sepsis and Perforated Bowel)

Turned my fingers black, just before amputation, they were back to normal. (Sepsis and Amputations) In ICU for 32 days, first 2 weeks my family came to say goodbye, I’m so thankful to be alive. I had a colostomy bag for 6 months, trying to reconnect my bowels. It was too soon so I got a ileostomy. It was successful.

I was in and out of hospitals for 4 years. I still had a wound opened and draining. I had my fourth surgery, and they found I had sutures infected. I’m so thankful for being alive. I’m now coping with the side effects. Sepsis took my Dad. I’m so glad I’m here on this earth.
