I am sharing my experience with sepsis while watching my dad fight a battle he didn’t win.

My father asked me to take him to the hospital and was soon told he was in septic shock. (Sepsis and Septic Shock) My dad was 84 years old and the doctors knew early he had a low chance of survival. It started from a UTI that he didn’t realize he had. (Sepsis and Urinary Tract Infections)

He lost kidney function and was vary disoriented the entire time he was in ICU. He coded twice while battling sepsis, unfortunately the second time being received he lost too much oxygen to his brain and was declared brain dead. After 32 terrifying days we took my dad off the monitors and finally put him to rest. He fought hard but it was a battle he was never going to win.
