The day after my birthday, Oct 5, 2017, I told my boss I was feeling very badly, tired, coughing, muscle aches, etc. I thought maybe it was pneumonia so I went to urgent care at 3:30 P.M. I was right, I had pneumonia and was given antibiotics, so I went straight home and fell asleep. I was totally exhausted. (Sepsis and Pneumonia)

My husband was going to fill the prescription for me as he worked there and was due home in a few hours. I woke back up at 7:00 P.M. I came out to the living and told my step-daughter to call 911, that I wasn’t going to make it if I didn’t get help right away. I was vomiting bile, had severe back pain, muscle pains. Her friend’s mother had just left and was a doctor so she turned around and took me to the ER. I sat there for only about 10 minutes, was vomiting the entire time and coughing up blood. My BP was 64/48, temp 97, Oxygen only 80 +/- (I can’t remember everything) I was definitely trying to check out!!

The ER Sepsis alarm sounded and a nurse whispered that in the next 10 minutes I was going to have many people doing many different things to me all at once. They checked the X-rays from urgent care and compared them to the new ones. The doctor could not believe he had the right ones. The bacterial pneumonia had spread rapidly, I had acute kidney injury and severe sepsis. I recovered after spending 2 days in ICU and 2 days in regular hospital. I am 56 and feel so drained still!!
