William Crist

My dad had suffered a UTI that would not go away, he tried several antibiotics. (Sepsis and Urinary Tract Infections) He was waiting to see a specialist. On a Friday, he developed a bad cough and collapsed that evening. The rescue squad came and his blood pressure was critically low. They could not get enough oxygen, so they decided to sedate him and put him on a ventilator to rest his body and get his vitals to regulate.
He had a lot of fluid in his body and blood tests showed sepsis. They did three dialysis treatments which made him very weak. They gave him a feeding tube and he showed signs of improvement. He was responding well to antibiotics, but it was a slow process. He had pneumonia as well, and fluid in lungs. (Sepsis and Pneumonia) He was able to open eyes and move a finger. This went on for three weeks.
He went to sleep one day and nurses/doctors and family could not wake him. He was unresponsive. They tried test his brain waves and it showed no activity. Dad passed away January 3, 2020. Septic shock, pneumonia, lung failure and congestive heart failure were all on his death certificate. He received the best treatment, but sepsis was already taking over.
I hope this story can save a life.
