My grandson died of sepsis on the 16th October 2021. He was 12 days old. He had successful surgery for a Colonic Atresia type 3, and seemed to be recovering well. He was due to leave intensive care. The staff in the neonatal unit failed to detect signs of infection until it was too late. They operated on him again on the morning of the 15th, only to find a massive abscess on his liver, which led to sepsis. He died at 2am the next morning. None of us have recovered. His name was Vincenzo, and he was beautiful.
