Tony Siwi
Tribute

Tony was admitted to hospital in January 2017 for chemo. To start the fight against MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome). He had a PICC line fitted and chemo started. (Sepsis and Invasive Devices) During his treatment, his PICC line became infected causing raging temperatures. Eventually the doctors, through many differences combinations of antibiotics got the infection under control.

Unfortunately the first round of chemo failed so Tony started another course. Once again a PICC line was.fitted and once again it got infected. This time they struggled to.get the infection under control. He started to experience an exceptionally painful swelling in his groin. He then started to become confused all the time with a raging temperature. After his oxygen levels and blood pressure started to fall, Tony was sent to intensive care where we were told he had sepsis. He was put on a ventilator and given strong antibiotics resulting in the need for a dialysis machine.

Sadly Tony lost his fight 10 days later leaving us confused and angry how anyone can contract sepsis after spending over 4 months in an isolation room.
