Shirley Tait
Tribute

My mom, who was also my best friend, passed away February 23, 2011 of septic shock. She was on her fourth round of chemotherapy for breast cancer. She was doing great and had the symptoms of chemo that the oncology deptartment told us she would have. (Sepsis and Cancer)

My mom was a very strong person and she accepted the fact she had to have the chemo. We took her to the hospital around 2:00 pm on the 22nd of February. She had normal blood pressure and temperature. I must say, she looked better after she had fluids given to her by intravenous. Her bloodwork came back with very low counts due to the chemo. The staff told us her body went septic.

They started antibiotics and then later a transfusion because she was loosing blood somewhere. It is so hard to accept because she seemed fine to us that day and night then, all of sudden, went into cardiac arrest and passed away around 1:00am Wed. morning.

We still ask the questions about if we had got her there sooner would she be with us today? It is almost like a silent killer.
