Sherry Switalski
Survivor

I was 59 years old, and I got very very sick. I laid on the couch unable to get up for a couple of days. My son came over and I was laying in my own urine and feces. I had sleeping that whole time. My temperature was 105.

I immediately got transported to the emergency room where they were telling my kids how sick I was. They told them it didn’t look good for my survival. My daughter was an RN at the same hospital. In the cardiac unit. I really believe that had she not been there to over see my care, I wouldn’t be writing this. I lost all function in my legs, my blood pressure went sky high. They were worried about a stroke. Well, I survived.

I’m not the person I used to be. I was also diagnosed with COPD. I spent 2 months in rehab trying to get my legs back. I’m in a senior apartment, and doing good. I am now 65 and haven’t had any problems except that I tire easy and it affected my memory a little. Horrible time in my life. Hope it never happens again
