Michelle Dick

Tribute

On December 22nd, 2023, Michelle was admitted to the ER after having flu-like symptoms for 5 days, despite testing negative for everything. When she arrived to the ER, she was already in septic shock with a fever of 103 a dangerously low blood pressure, and a heart rate of 140 that never went down. It wasn’t long before providers transferred her to the ICU, where they put her on a ventilator 24hrs later.

She wasn’t progressing at all, but also wasn’t getting worse. Another 24hrs went by, and she was transported to a larger hospital where she could be put on dialysis. Again, 24 hours went by. Doctors told us that she had a good chance of recovery, despite her blood clotting during dialysis. Not even 10 minutes later, her heart stopped and she succumbed to septic shock on Christmas Day. She was a powerhouse of a woman- she never went down without a fight, and that’s why I think she made it as long as she did despite being in critical condition. Her legacy lives on through her children, family, and friends.
