I had a UTI that apparently I had for a month and a half. It developed into a bad kidney infection. I finally went to the Emergency room because I was in a great amount of pain and I knew I had a fever. I didn’t know until I got to the hospital that my fever was 103.7, and my heart rate was 140 BPM, and my blood pressure was extremely high. When I saw that I was extremely nervous and got concerned because my heart rate was SO high and so was my fever, which told me the infection was obviously bad. (Sepsis and Urinary Tract Infections)

After they took urine from me and hooked me up to IV fluid and antibiotics immediately, the doctor came back in and told me that it was extremely important they admit me to the hospital for a few days, which ended up being almost 5 days. I had a fever of over 101.3 for 3 and a half days straight. And my heart rate was always over 110 when they checked my BP and heart rate. They hooked me up to an EKG machine for 48 hours. And my lower back was in so much pain still after 4 days. I couldn’t go home until after 24 hours of NO FEVER. I realize now how lucky i am to be alive. And how quickly the sepsis can turn to septic shock, where essentially it’s too late and all there is, is death.

I am very happy I went to the ER when I did because if I waited any longer, like another day, which I was dumb enough to almost do because I am very stubborn and had kidney infections a couple times before, and I thought I’d be fine and just go the next day since it was already late to me..it was about 10pm.

Well that’s my story and I know some of you are thinking, how didn’t she know she had a UTI. Well the ONLY symptom I showed was my urine smelled a little off so I thought it was a yeast infection. I went to the store and bought the at-home treatment.
Iwill never ever wait again at the first sign of anything. Hopefully there will never be a next time.
