On October 2015 I had my appendix removed and all my problems started from then, my bowel failed and my bladder. Since then I have had a stomas fitted and many other problems. In May I developed sepsis for the first time. I was very ill and on lots of medication to clear it! Eventually it went but little did we know at that time it was all going to get so much worse. Since then I have had sepsis 8 times but my last bout was by far the worst!

I went into A&E with pain and high white blood cells and CRP levels and this is how all my other bouts of sepsis started. I was put on a ward and started 3 lots of IV antibiotics straight away. I thought then I felt bad! Then over night, things went from bad to worse very quickly. I spiked a fever of 40.1 (Celsius), a heart rate of 157 and a low blood pressure, and I was put on oxygen as my levels was very low. More tests were done. My last lot of blood then come back that my CRP had risin to 290 and more antibiotics were added. But I still progressively got worse.

I ended up being taken to theatre for a central line in my neck, and more blood cultures were sent off, more scans performed while I was rapidly deteriorating. After 2 weeks they finally come back and told me I had a collapsed lung and 4 bugs in my blood E.coli/strep/candida and klebsiela, which was why I was progressively getting worse.

By this point I was critical and under critical care and there was talk of taking over my breathing completely rather then just oxygen therapy! More meds were started and eventually I started responding. All the doctors and my family were so pleased! I was then moved back to my local hospital for further treatment! I stayed in hospital for a month recovering. I am now still having long term problems from the last lot of sepsis and am now waiting for answers as to why this keeps happening!
