Loretta Strickland

Tribute

On March 19, 2019, sepsis claimed the second member of our family. My mother-in-law, Loretta Strickland, passed at 57. She went into the hospital on March 1, with an infection in her stomach, she needed emergency surgery to remove gangrenous tissue. She was placed on a ventilator and sedated, the wound on her stomach had to be left open for the infection to drain. She was on presssers to keep her blood pressure stable and her heart rate ran in the 115-130 range.

After a few surgeries to remove dead tissue, more antibiotics, and time to heal, she seemed to make some improvement. However, her organs began to fail, and after 18 days her body was no longer able to fight this awful killer.
