Lewis Berry

Tribute

My husband Lewis went into the hospital on March 31st. He was placed on a ventilator that day. We spoke over FaceTime and he told me I was the love of his life, that the years with me were the happiest of his life. He told me he would fight this and come back to me. I told him I loved him more than anything in the world and I couldn’t lose him. I just found him, he had to survive. I told him he was my other half, my soul mate.

That was the last time I was able to speak with my husband. The next day I was told he had COVID 19 but they expected a recovery within two weeks. (Sepsis and COVID-19) The story changed very quickly and then was told he had staph in his lungs and they were running out of options. He was on the max vent settings and his fever continued to climb until it was 108. On April 6th, at 1:26am my husband passed away. He was 37 and we were married for 17 months. We knew each other for less than 4 years. I’m now a 31 year old widow trying to continue on after losing the love of my live because of this pandemic.
