James Vicker

Tribute

My brother James Vickers was only 34, a huge guy of size and personality, married to Tilly. They had 2 wonderful children, my niece Michaela, 6, and nephew, James 9.

On March 8, 2012 James went to the hospital not feeling well and within 6 hours, he flat lined 6 times at Buffalo General. The doctors had no idea why. They thought maybe blood clot in the lungs, etc., so after the 6th very painful time – all of my family members had come by this time – they stopped trying to revive him and he passed away. It was the hardest thing my mom and family had to do, watch someone so young and full of life just go, and how to tell his poor children.

vickers2We did have a autopsy done and they said on it septic shock. The only thing my sister-in-law thought of was that James did have a cut on his leg that he never got treated, which never healed he kept just covering it up.

I had never heard of this before and am now trying to learn as much as I can and hopefully do something to make a difference so it won’t happen to others. My family did throw a benefit for my brother’s family last month to help with expenses, and raised over $10,000.00 doing so. Nothing can bring him back, but anything to help keep his memory alive is the best we can do.
