Frances Kropelak

Survivor

On April 10, 2019 I went in Mercy Hospital for coils in my aneurysm. I was told by the doctor that they would be going through my groin for this procedure. When I woke up from being sedated and intubated I was surprised to hear that they went through my wrist instead. The procedure went well and I was released within 25 hours from the time I got up to the ICU room. I was told everything went great and they put 2 coils in my aneurysm.

I felt fine so I left the ICU unit Thursday April 11, 2019 at noon. I felt fine there were no problems until 2 weeks later. On Thursday April 25, 2019 I noticed how tried I was. (Sepsis and Surgery, Sepsis and Invasive Devices) Then that morning around 11am my body started shaking profusely and uncontrollable I couldn’t stop it. I got a very bad headache and the doctor who put my coils in told me if you get a severe headache go to the Emergency Department as soon as you can. Plus I was extremely tried to the point I wasn’t thinking clearly. I was rushed by ambulance back to Mercy Hospital because they have my test and records. When I got there my blood pressure was 56/35 my heart rate was 148 and my temp was 102.5.

I was diagnosed with sepsis within 1 hour. I had a chest x-ray and was told I have the very beginning of pneumonia. (Sepsis and Pneumonia) I am not coughing still to this day and I don’t feel like I have pneumonia and no one can hear anything in my lungs. While I was in the hospital I was on 2 different antibiotics and a lot of IVs. I now have a major flare up of herpes simplex one. I have sores in my mouth, on my lips, in and out of my nose, because of all the stress my body went through.
