Tribute

My mother died on December 5, 2018 at age 87. Her cause of death per death certificate was Septicemia.

Mom had a history of bladder infections and had cracked a vertebrae in a fall. (Sepsis and Urinary Tract Infections) Shortly afterwards, she started getting confused, afraid, and angry. She said everyone in the world hated her and she was going to be tortured and killed.

She was put on antipsychotics, improved slightly, but ended up in the hospital after another fall. She perked up in the hospital with fluids and antibiotics, but was released to a rehab facility just two days later. At the facility, she went downhill quickly. She refused to eat or drink and wouldn’t do her physical therapy. She told me she knew she was dying so there was no use. Her doctor had the attitude that she’s old…so no effort made to make her well.

I feel like everyone failed my mom. I love and miss her so much.
