Dennis P.

Survivor

I was at my son’s house in Texas in October of 21 and got into fire ants. They bothered me for a couple weeks then mostly got better. I got back to our home in Florida and mostly got over it but some friends came down from out of state and we went surf fishing. I started feeling worse and worse for several weeks. My nurse practitioner was moving to another town and said I had to have a Covid test to come in. In other words leave me alone.

We went out for dinner with friends January 8th and two days later I had Covid. A few days later my oxygen dropped to 85% and I was having panic attacks and trouble breathing. That night I went to emergency I ended up having Covid pneumonia along with sepsis. (Sepsis and COVID-19, Sepsis and Pneumonia) I was on oxygen and pumped with antibiotics and remdesivir for eight days. I went from 220 pounds to 190 pounds in that eight days. The last day they said we are going to back off the oxygen to see how you do. My oxygen stayed up and after lunch I got booted after 10 days of care. When I got home I had nightmares so bad I didn’t want to go to sleep. We went back to a different nurse practitioner and I broke down crying and didn’t know why. I also came down with a yeast infection after getting out of the hospital that cleared up. It’s been terrifying but it has brought me closer to my savior Jesus and my wife. I’m thankful but I was close to not making it. This started October of 21 and it is now February 27 of 22. Still weak but gaining weight.
