Barbara Healy

Tribute

It was Remembrance Sunday, 9th November 2014, just after 12.05pm you took your last breath due to this horrible and nasty infection sepsis!! We as a family had no idea you had this Mum, not until it was too late. It was less than 24 hours we had to say good-bye to you, but we never did! You couldn’t talk with wearing a mask to help you breath and monitored up on all those scary machines. We knew you weren’t well. You had seen three doctors. One said you could have early signs of dementia, which I knew wasn’t true. You were all there in your head, your body not so much.

Then the final doc said you had pneumonia and a water infection, and gave you antibiotics. (Sepsis and Pneumonia) You got worse and you didn’t want to go into hospital. But I had to call the paramedics you were so poorly. My brother and I didn’t think it was so serious and that you wouldn’t be leaving in a hearse to the chapel of rest. It was your 2nd anniversary the other day. I lost Mum & my best friend. I miss you so much every day and always will till I see you again.

I blame myself for not knowing more and acting sooner. But I’m not a doctor or nurse, how would I have known? Doesn’t cure the guilt I live with and will forever. My Dad died a month & a day later. He was in a nursing home and never recovered from a fall in July the same year. Deep down I knew he wanted to be with our beloved Mum, but not without a fight. So now they are together forever in peace. God bless you Barbara & Joe Healy xxxxx
