I felt like I had the flu had to pee a lot and was extremely fatigued. Over the next couple days I vomited coffee ground stuff and couldn’t get off the toilet. I went to a doctor and to the emergency room on 2 different days and no one had an answer. Finally I told my husband to call ambulance.
I got to the ER and had blood work done and my blood pressure was 45 over 25.

I was told my kidneys were not working. I had a hard time breathing. I was sent to ICU to get meds to raise my blood pressure. I was hooked up to a ton of stuff including morphine and 2 antibiotics. For a while they didn’t know what it was and thought about getting the CDC involved.

Finally sepsis and septic shock was the diagnosis. I had a port hooked into my neck to get meds into me quickly.  Every test was run. Blood work checked for poision, CT scan, endoscope and more. My doctor didn’t think I would make it.

To this day they never found what caused it. I was in ICU for 10 days. I couldn’t move or eat. But I had the will to live and wouldn’t give up
After getting home I couldn’t walk and needed round the clock care and PT. I gained 50 pounds of water too. It was the scariest thing to ever happen to me.

It was 4 or 5 months before I was normal again. I owe my life to a heart doctor who worked around the clock trying to help me. Less than a year ago my mother passed away from sepsis. I hope it never happens again….50 50 odds are nothing to mess with!
