Hello, I am a sepsis survivor, In 2016 I had a kidney stone, having had them before I waited for it to pass before going to the doctor. (Sepsis and Kidney Stones)  A week after the first symptoms showed up, I started running a high fever and vomiting. I was on the bathroom floor shaking uncontrollably and moaning for my wife to help me. She finally heard me, (she had been outside) and got me to the couch where I bundled up and could not quit shaking, the kind of shaking when you’re feverish and have a chill and cannot get warm, but a hundred times worse. I was not able to catch my breath so she loaded me into the car and off to the emergency room we went.

In the triage, the nurse took my vitals, called back and immediately sent me to a bed. They did a scan and got me back to the room, and a surgeon showed up and said I had to have emergency surgery that the kidney stone had my kidney plugged up and was causing a severe infection.

This part of the story was related to me from doctors and my wife. I would not wake up after surgery, my heart rate was around 110 to 120, my blood pressure was dangerously low, and I was not responding. I woke up around 45 minutes later, delirious, they got me to ICU and jammed 3 IVs in me, two antibiotics and one saline. I was out of my head for the next 24 hours or so.

When I came to my senses, the doctors said I was very lucky and I almost died. I was very happy to see my wife and son! I stayed in the ICU for three days, was sent home and stayed bedridden for two weeks.

Now I am very vigilant about kidney stones! Thanks!
