Sepsis Alliance receives grant from Del E. Webb Foundation

October 16, 2023

Sepsis Alliance, the leading sepsis organization in the United States, is pleased to announce it was named a recipient of a grant from the Del E. Webb Foundation. This grant will be used to increase sepsis education and awareness in school-aged children.

“This program will provide education to school health providers free of charge,” said Thomas Heymann, President and Executive Director of Sepsis Alliance. “We’re grateful for the Del E. Webb Foundation’s belief in our work and know this education will help reduce unnecessary deaths and suffering related to sepsis in school-aged children.”

The Del E. Webb Foundation provides funding for children and health initiatives to honor Del E. Webb’s legacy. They have previously supported several Sepsis Alliance programs, including an extremely popular training video to educate first responders on the signs of sepsis.

“Almost 100,000 children are sent to the ER with sepsis every year,” said John Lees, D.O., President of the Del E. Webb Foundation. “School nurses can be the first to encounter sepsis in this population – and every minute counts.”
