Survivor

I hadn’t been feeling well days before this happened and then I woke up vomiting in the middle of the night with dizziness, shortness of breath and a fever. My fiancé called 911 and off to the ER I went.

I was in very bad shape plus having other health issues which made my prognosis bad. I went to the ICU and can’t remember anything until 2 weeks later. My kids were called because I also had a stroke and were told to come see me because the doctors didn’t know if I would make it. I couldn’t talk for a week and my diabetes was over 600. The sepsis was caused by a kidney infection. (Sepsis and Diabetes, Sepsis and Urinary Tract Infections)  I did recover with a few lingering issues but I’m here and doing my best to get through the post-sepsis effects. I hope I could maybe help others who are going through this because I think knowing you aren’t alone can make a world of difference. I hope my story can bring awareness to this illness as so many people don’t even know about it.
