Tribute

My brother was 38 years old and passed away on 12/31/24. My brother was a world traveler, devoted brother, uncle and a dog dad. My brother was my best friend and, we talked almost every day.

My brother was one of the kindest people you’d ever meet! On 12/30/24, my brother complained of not feeling well. He was running a fever. He expressed that he felt like he was going to die. He also said that his spine was hurting and he felt like he was coming down with something that felt like the flu. He also expressed that he had chills and nausea. In addition, he expressed that he had believed that he had passed out.

He took some medicine that night in hopes that he would feel better in the morning. On the morning of 12/31/24, he was not well at all, in fact, he felt worse! He was taken to the hospital and within a few hours of being there, he passed away.

After I received my brother’s cause of death,  I immediately began to do my research because sepsis was something I had heard of but was not knowledgeable of what it actually is. To find out that all of what my brother described were the warning signs and symptoms of sepsis and he nor we were aware of them was extremely alarming! I am so grateful for the Sepsis Alliance for spreading awareness about sepsis because had he and our entire family been aware of sepsis, his life possibly could have been saved.
