I was bitten by a dog at work, and went to an urgent care that workers comp gave me the information for right away. (Sepsis and Animal Bites) They wrapped my wound tight, didn’t prescribe oral medicine and sent me home with almost no discharge instructions.

36 hours later, I couldn’t move my hand and knew something was wrong, so I sought different care and was immediately admitted for sepsis. I spent 3 days hospitalized receiving 2 different IV antibiotics, had an MRI and was almost rushed into surgery. I was lucky enough to heal with no physical consequences, but I still deal with lingering mental side effects and the fear from what happened. Please, don’t be afraid to speak up if you think you aren’t being treated correctly. Had I waited to go to the hospital who knows what could have happened. I’m thankful every day for the wonderful nurses who helped me get through the scariest thing that has ever happened to me.
