Rebecca Louise Musson

Tribute

On 19th June 2009 Rebecca went into hospital to have a baby. Lucy was born at 7.30 am. 12pm Rebecca complained about feeling ill. She was dizzy. Vomiting generally unwell. Unfortunately no temperature was taken and nurses put it down to delivery and possibly haemorrhage even though no bleeding. (Sepsis and Pregnancy & Childbirth)

12pm she was taken to surgery (antibiotics had been ordered but not administered) 4pm we were told she died. That was a Friday. On Sunday we got a phone call from the hospital stating she had Strep A toxic shock. Midwives and doctors hadn’t heard of it no sepsis pathway in place at the time. That was 2009 and although it’s too late for my beautiful daughter. My child didn’t have the advantage of all the good work which is being done now to make people aware of sepsis. Rebecca was 26 at the time left 2 children. Luke 7 and Lucy 7 hours
