Laura Fritz

Survivor

I am a 31-year-old female and had sepsis 5 years ago after I was a live liver donor. I donated a portion of my liver to my mother. I had three surgeries over two months, and was in the hospital for over 40 days, some time spent in ICU and some days on a ventilator.

Not all my complications were due to sepsis, but I did go septic quickly after the initial surgery, and that lead to other complications. (Sepsis and Surgery) A small bowel perforation was the cause of my sepsis after the donation surgery. I am doing well now, however, it is unclear what post surgical complications and lingering health issues are from the sepsis.
