John F. Capers Jr.

Tribute

August 31,2016 Wednesday, my John went in for a colonoscopy/ hemorrhoidectomy. Same day surgery. He came home that evening, unable to urinate. A rough night turned into out of control deep pain lower back/abdominal, dizzy, nausea, no urine output 24hrs. Rushed to ER. Reopened surgical site finding nothing. Diagnosis POSSIBLE abcess, possible cellulitis. Rated sepsis a 1. (Sepsis and Surgery)

Was in a regular room. Brought to surgery opening same site 2 more times finding nothing. Never once said SEPSIS, only “I DON’T KNOW” from nurses and doctor. Septic shock Saturday morning, no urgency in care, still in same regular room. Early Saturday morning a new doctor said, severe sepsis recommended laparotomy! By then they were losing him. It was too late. My childhood love from age 15, together 40 yearrs coded and could not be resuscitated. Mulitple organ failure. Autopsy denied!!

Sent him to UF. Ecoli at surgical! Retroperitoneal necrotizing fasciitis. (Sepsis and Necrotizing Fasciitis) They infected him with the flesh eating bacteria SEPSIS SET in and within 3 days he was gone!! Lawsuits denied!! They say, they did everything they could to save him!!??? My life is shattered!! My children, grandchildren and family are sick over this. My John’s life will not be so easily dismissed!! I am his voice!!!
