Deanna Fincher

Survivor

My name is Deanna. I am a 31-year-old female, mother of a now-3-year-old baby girl. At the end of November 2013, I began feeling achy and feverish. I thought I was coming down with the flu so I took some over-the-counter flu medicine and went to bed. I only remember bits and pieces of the next morning.

My fiance called 911. My fever was 105.8 when the EMTs arrived. When I arrived to the hospital, my internal temp had reached 107. My blood pressure bottomed out and I went into septic shock. I was sedated and on life support for a little over 2 weeks. I was under an ice blanket for most of the first week. I was on 4 different blood pressure meds to keep my blood pressure up, which in turn took the blood flow and oxygen from my hands and feet to put on my organs to keep them from shutting down.

deana_fincher_fingersI went into the hospital on Dec. 1, 2013 and was released on Dec. 20, 2013. I began waking up on my daughter’s 3rd birthday, Dec. 10th. It’s been 4 months now. My index and middle fingers on my left hand are black and will soon fall off. All 5 toes on my right foot are affected and black from gangrene and will loose the tip of my right little toe. (Sepsis and Amputations)

I didn’t want to have an operation to remove my fingers because I want to give them a chance. If there’s just one live cell in there, it will make new cells begin to grow. I put it in my God’s hands because He specializes in the impossible. You can see the pics of my fingers and toes on my Facebook page: Deanna Fincher
