Sepsis: It’s About TIME™ Wins Three Platinum Hermes Creative Awards

April 29, 2019

The Sepsis Alliance team is excited to share that the Sepsis: It’s About TIME™ campaign has been recognized with three platinum 2019 Hermes Creative Awards in the following categories: Pro Bono, Integrated Marketing Campaign, and Communication/Marketing Campaign. The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals that honors messengers and creators of emerging media. It is one of the largest competitions of its kind in the world. Last year, Sepsis: It’s About TIME™ also won a prestigious platinum MarCom Award and three gold MarCom Awards.

Sepsis: It’s About TIME™ is a national initiative to create sepsis awareness and the need for urgency in seeking treatment when signs and symptoms are recognized. Sepsis is the third leading cause of death in the United States, taking 270,000 live every year. However, as many as 80% of sepsis deaths could be prevented with rapid diagnosis and treatment.

The campaign includes digital media, print media, and outdoor billboards. Key to the campaign is a PSA featuring Angelica Hale, an American’s Got Talent finalist and sepsis survivor.

To help people recognize and remember the signs and symptoms of sepsis, Sepsis Alliance created the TIME acronym, which also serves as a reminder to seek medical attention as soon as symptoms are noticed.

The TIME acronym stands for:

  • Temperature – Higher or lower than normal
  • Infection – May have signs and symptoms of an infection
  • Mental decline – Confused, sleepy, difficult to rouse
  • Extremely ill – “I feel like I might die,” severe pain or discomfort

As of March of 2019, Sepsis: It’s About TIME™ has reached over 370,000 people on social media, and the outdoor billboards have made over 14.6 million impressions.

We are deeply honored to be recognized with three platinum Hermes Creative Awards. We would like to thank our pro-bono communications firm Spectrum Science for making Sepsis: It’s About TIME™ possible and for their wonderful work on this campaign. Together we hope to continue to expand the reach of this award-winning campaign to help spread awareness of the signs and symptoms of sepsis, and in doing so, save lives.
