Sepsis and Dementia: New Addition to Sepsis and… Library

May 27, 2019

Dementia affects millions of people worldwide. While dementia is known for causing memory loss and personality changes, it also affects the body physically. People with dementia may not be able to say they don’t feel well or they have pain. They may hurt themselves falling or develop bedsores that can become infected. As dementia progresses, they may choke when trying to eat or drink, and this could cause pneumonia. Not eating or drinking well could also cause malnutrition, which increases the risk of further illness.

Sepsis can also trigger dementia or it can worsen it.

Visit Sepsis and Dementia to learn how the two conditions can be connected.
