Sepsis Alliance Expands Educational Reach with New ACCME Accreditation to Offer CME Credits

Sepsis Alliance is pleased to announce that Sepsis Alliance Institute has earned accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), empowering the organization to offer Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits to physicians. Previously, Sepsis Alliance Institute held accreditation solely for RN Continuing Education (CE) credits. This expansion marks a significant milestone in enhancing sepsis care by providing broader access to high-quality, multidisciplinary education across the healthcare professional community.

Sepsis Alliance Institute launched in 2019 as The Sepsis Institute through a partnership with DRIVe/BARDA. The platform was developed to deliver free, convenient webinars and modules for healthcare professionals to improve early recognition and treatment of sepsis.

Sepsis is a life-threatening emergency that happens when your body’s response to an infection damages vital organs and, often, causes death. It is the number one cost of hospitalization in the U.S., affecting 1.7 million adults each year and killing 350,000. Additionally, over 6,800 children die from sepsis each year in the U.S. Every hour that treatment is delayed can increase the risk of death by 4-9%, which is why education for healthcare professionals on quick diagnosis and treatment is vital to saving lives.

Since its inception, Sepsis Alliance Institute has become an essential hub for provider education, serving over 60,000 learners with accessible, evidence-based content.
