Edwards Lifesciences Reaffirms Commitment to Sepsis Alliance Clinical Community

August 11, 2020

Sepsis Alliance announces renewed support from Sepsis Alliance Clinical Community’s Founding Sponsor, Edwards Lifesciences.

Sepsis Alliance is pleased to announce that Edwards Lifesciences has renewed their commitment to educating healthcare providers across the continuum of care through support of the Sepsis Alliance Clinical Community at the $50,000 level. Sepsis Alliance Clinical Community was launched in May 2018 as the Sepsis Coordinator Network, with support from Edwards Lifesciences as the founding sponsor.

Sepsis, which takes over 270,000 lives each year in the United States, is the body’s overwhelming response to infection, which can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, amputations, and death. Early recognition and treatment of sepsis saves lives and the Sepsis Alliance Clinical Community connects the clinicians tasked with that responsibility.

In the past 2 years, Sepsis Alliance Clinical Community has brought together over 2,300 clinicians representing over 1,600 hospitals and facilities to share best practice resources and guidance to sepsis coordinators and all health professionals across the country, including open forums, free webinars, and downloadable tools and resources.

“Sepsis Alliance Clinical Community was a big step towards our mission to ‘improve sepsis awareness and care,’ and it would not have been possible without the support of dedicated organizations like Edwards Lifesciences,” said Thomas Heymann, Sepsis Alliance President and Executive Director. “We appreciate Edwards coming on as the founding sponsor when Sepsis Alliance Clinical Community was just a novel idea, and we are pleased and grateful to have earned their renewed support.”

The Sepsis Alliance Clinical Community is open to all healthcare professionals with an interest in improving sepsis care, and there is no fee to become a member. Interested parties can register at www.SepsisCoordinatorNetwork.org.
