Planned Giving

Planned giving is the process of making a significant charitable gift during a donor’s life or at death that is part of their financial or estate plan. Planned giving allows you to provide for loved ones and support organizations that are important to you at the same time.

By pledging your generous gift today, you are leaving a legacy that will change the lives of those affected by sepsis for generations to come. Your gift will help provide educational materials and resources to the public and health providers, and your gift will save lives and limbs. Thank you for exploring ways to leave your legacy. Wills, trusts, and bequests

By including Sepsis Alliance in your estate plans, you will leave a lasting impact and continue your support of a cause that is meaningful to you. Benefits to consider include:

  • Convenience: Simply speak to your attorney when you are writing or editing your will to add Sepsis Alliance as a beneficiary.
  • No cost to you now: Nothing is transferred to Sepsis Alliance until your estate is settled.
  • Flexibility: You can change the amount at any time, and for any reason.
  • Prepare for your heirs: Determining the amount you want to donate to charitable causes allows you to leave other assets to your loved ones.
Donor advised funds

A donor advised fund (DAF) is like a charitable savings account that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support Sepsis Alliance and other charities through cash, appreciated securities and other assets.

Retirement funds

Donating funds from your retirement account may allow you to take advantage of tax incentives. Amounts held in tax-favored retirement plans are typically not subject to income tax until they are actually withdrawn from the plan by the plan owner or surviving heirs.

Here’s how to add Sepsis Alliance as a beneficiary:

  • Contact your retirement plan administrator, insurance company, bank or financial institution for a change-of-beneficiary form.
  • Decide what percentage (1 to 100) you would like us to receive and name Sepsis Alliance (EIN: 38-3110993) along with the percentage you chose, on the beneficiary form.
  • Return the completed form to your plan administrator, insurance company, bank or financial institution.
