April 30, 2024 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

  • « Sponsored Webinar: More Secrets of the CBC…Use the Diff to Make a Diff!
  • Sepsis Alliance Connect: Infection Prevention in Pregnancy »

Date: April 30, 2024

Time: 2 PM ET

Description:

Recreational therapy is a type of therapy that uses leisure activities to support physical and mental/emotional healing in people with illnesses and other debilitating conditions. Common Post-Sepsis Syndrome symptoms, such as depression, trauma, and cognitive challenges, have been shown to be responsive to treatment plans which include recreational therapy, as have the stress and burnout commonly experienced by loved ones. In this session, learn key concepts that are commonly a part of recreational therapy, including some that can help manage the many symptoms that are common in sepsis survivors and their loved ones.

Speaker:

Janis Smith, PhD, Recreation Therapist, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist , Northern Health (Prince George, BC, Canada)
