Featuring The Paul and Debra Walker Award

The Sepsis Research and Innovation (SRI) Challenge is a centerpiece of the annual Unite for Sepsis Symposium, presented by Sepsis Alliance, to be held in Washington, D.C. on June 11–12, 2026. This competitive showcase elevates early-stage research and emerging technologies with the potential to transform sepsis detection, treatment, and patient outcomes. Startups, academic teams, clinicians, and researchers are invited to submit their most promising innovations for consideration.

Past Events

On September 8-9, 2025, Sepsis Alliance convened the inaugural Unite for Sepsis Symposium at the Gleacher Center in Chicago. Held in partnership with the Grainger College of Engineering, the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, Carle Health, and HEI Partners, the meeting brought together clinicians, engineers, basic and clinical researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, patients, patient advocates, and policymakers to accelerate progress in sepsis science and care.

When and where will the conference take place?

The second annual Sepsis Alliance: Unite for Sepsis Symposium will take place June 11-12, 2026, at the Kellogg Conference Hotel at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.

No, this event does not offer CE or CME credits.

Do you offer scholarships to attend the Unite for Sepsis Symposium?

At this time, the Unite for Sepsis Symposium does not offer scholarships or travel assistance. The event is designed as a high-level convening for healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, and organizational leaders focused on advancing sepsis policy, systems change, and clinical innovation.

Will there be a virtual option?

There will not be a virtual option for this year’s event. The only way to attend is in-person.

Can I transfer my registration to somebody else?

If a registrant is unable to attend, their registration may be transferred to another individual within the same organization or sponsoring entity, subject to the conditions below.

Transfer Conditions

Transfers must be requested in writing by the original registrant or their authorized representative. Requests must be submitted to info@sepsis.org at least 10 business days prior to the first day of the event. The substitute attendee must meet any eligibility criteria for the registration type purchased, such as professional role or membership status.

Information Required for Transfer Requests

When requesting a transfer, please include:

  • Original registrant’s full name, title, organization, and email
  • Substitute attendee’s full name, title, organization, and email
  • Any updated accessibility or dietary needs for the substitute attendee

Late or On-Site Transfers

Transfer requests received after the 10-business-day deadline may be considered, but cannot be guaranteed. If permitted, processing may occur on-site and could result in delays at check-in.

Financial Terms

Registration fees will not be refunded to the original registrant. Any financial arrangements between the original and substitute attendee are the responsibility of those individuals or their organizations. By accepting a transferred registration, the substitute attendee agrees to comply with all event terms and policies.

I can't make the event anymore, can I have a refund on my ticket?

All registration sales are final. Sepsis Alliance does not provide refunds, credit, or partial refunds for:

  • Registrant cancellation or change in personal or professional schedule
  • Failure to attend all or part of the event
  • Travel disruptions, including weather, transportation delays, or cancellations
  • Illness or medical issues
  • Technology issues impacting participation in any virtual or hybrid component
  • Cancellations by Registrant

If a registrant is unable to attend, they are encouraged to use the Registration Transfer and Substitution Policy detailed in their original registration agreement.

Canceling travel or lodging arrangements is the sole responsibility of the registrant.
