I am retired on a disability. I have had a hip replaced on 5/10/2012. It was recalled and I had to have it replaced on 11/12/2013. This left me with steel plates holding my acetabula in place and on disability. (Sepsis and Joint Replacements)

On 03/25/2017 I had a toothache and went to a walk in clinic they gave me Bactrum. (Sepsis and Dental Health)  The tooth got worse by 03/30/2017. I was back in the clinic with 104 temp., sweating profusely. I had the shakes, tremors real bad. They tested me for the flu, it was negative. They were not sure what to do so they treated me with Tamiflu and sent me home. The next evening with a 103 temp., I fell asleep and woke up at 3 a.m. I tried to get some Motrin and collapsed. My wife and brother-in-law tried to help me up with no luck. I crawled back to bed.

The next morning they gave me no choice, I was going to the hospital. The hospital thought I was going to die, called the clergy, filled my room with a crash cart and about 7 or 8 specialists. The tests and machines showed no kidney function, no liver function, and an infection in the heart. They did not no why or what was causing it. Finally they got a blood test that showed SEPSIS and a heart full of endocarditis. They had to hold me in the bed my tremors were so bad. I was hallucinating and dying in front of them.

They started the antibiotics as strong and as fast as they could. I am alive today only because I was to stubborn to die, and I had great, smart and committed professionals caring for me. My shoulder needs to be replaced, I have had 2 rotator cuff surgeries and the tendon was so destroyed when I collapsed it can not be repaired. I had a very thick head of hair now the texture has refined and has started falling out. I have had to have all my teeth removed. They said this started in my bad tooth. I have a real fear that my hip that was replaced could have had a reaction to either the sepsis or all the antibiotics, and how long do I have to wait for the shoulder to be replaced. This has been a financial mess for us. as I said I am not old enough to get the supplement you can buy on Medicare and I was working part time, I haven’t been able to work because of the shoulder. I am scared for the future.
