Survivor

This is my story and I don’t know where to begin. We had a house fire in May. I started getting real sick, back and forth to the doctor’s office. I do not honestly recall going to the doctor’s office, nor do I recall going to the hospital at all. Nor a week in ICU, except for a brief period that I awoke knowing that I had been taken by aliens. I never seen any, just knew it.

I finally went to another floor and came home. I could not walk unassisted. I had been treated for sepsis and pneumonia. They said I was lucky to be alive. I am 57. I have 4 preteens and teenagers home. I like to do so many things. I cannot cook without help. I cannot remember a number. I have trouble at time with math. Watching tv can be exhausting. I cannot follow along in a book. I say the wrong thing. At times I feel confused. I also came home on oxygen and have a good 50-foot hose. My greatest fear is losing my mind.

I went to my regular doctor today and she put me on medications to help me and set up an appointment for some testing or something, like a word test. I don’t know what that is going to do. I just want so badly to learn some new skills to beat this. My other stuff is I have days that I am so tired I cannot do a thing. Or sometimes I get a headache. Thank you for reading this.
