Tribute

It all started in July 2017. My dad was feeling sick for a little over a week with no sign of getting better. He finally let me call an ambulance. When he got to the hospital they ran all these tests and everything we finally learned he had sepsis. He was in the hospital for a little over a week.

They sent him home after they tried to send him over an hour away to a rehab facility to receive the IV antibiotics, but he didn’t want to be that far away, so they sent him home with oral antibiotics. At first he seemed to be getting better besides all the fluid he had on him. Then about 3 weeks later he wants feeling good again and of course played it off like he was ok. The truth is he wasn’t. My daddy was so sick had I known now what I do, I would have made different choices and made him go. My dad went into septic shock a month after being diagnosed with sepsis. The medicine wasn’t doing it, the infection was just spread all through out his body. I watched my dad take his last breath & that was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my short 27 years on this earth.

My father was a great man and such a fighter! He fought until his body just couldn’t fight anymore. I love and miss him more than anything and just wish i knew more than i did then about sepsis and how serious it really is.
