I had 2 back surgeries, then came septic shock. (Surgery and Sepsis) I went to bed on December 23rd. I have a wife and four children. After going to bed, I simply didn’t wake up. My wife explained that she couldn’t wake me in the morning and called an ambulance. The ambulance called for a chopper and I was airlifted to the hospital. I’m told that I had a temperature of 108 and I suffered four heart attacks during the transition.
I woke up on the 11th day only to realize I couldn’t talk, read, or even ask what happened. I left the hospital and spent 2 months with a PICC line and another month of a very expensive antibiotic. It has now been 20 years. Two years ago I was finally able to read a book. But only if I enjoyed the story.
