Jason Croxall

Survivor

I’m a nurse for over 25 years and last year nearly lost my husband to cardiac tamponade (twice) from pericarditis. I had to FIGHT with physicians to convince them that he in fact, had pericarditis and eventually for days when he was on the verge of sepsis and cardiogenic shock, they finally put him on antibiotics.

Five hospital admissions at a hospital in Pittsburgh and finally his saving grace, The Cleveland Clinic (out patient), he is alive today. One year later, he continues on lots of medications however, has made HUGH strides. Our country has gone from giving EVERYONE antibiotics, to now treating antibiotics as if it was heroin! There definitely needs to be a medium and physicians need to be aware of when LONG enough is TOO long.

I am sooooo excited to see this alliance and will be spreading the word. One lost life from delayed treatment of antibiotics today is archaic!

Thank you SEPSIS ALLIANCE!!!

From a (status post) Level I Trauma ICU nurse.
