Survivor

My husband survived severe sepsis in 2014. He got sick again last week. I recognized the signs and we rushed him to the E.R. with moments to spare. His blood pressure crashed and he very nearly arrested. He was put on a ventilator and dozens of IV bags filled with various drugs to support his blood pressure and antibiotics to fight the raging infection diagnosed as septic shock. It came out of nowhere and took him down in a couple of hours. Thank God for the doctors and nurses at University Hospital in Aurora CO.

Their quick thinking and marvelous skills have saved my husband’s life TWICE from this deadly viper waiting in the corner just waiting for a chance to strike. My husband moved out of the ICU this morning. He won another round in this terrifying battle. I will never rest easy again. I watch my husband like a hawk. Every ache, pain, scratch, cut, fever means that he is sick again. Know and understand the warning signs and go to the nearest ER even if you aren’t sure. If I had waited 30 more minutes to get my husband to the ER he would have died at home. I am blessed to still have him with me. He will undoubtedly have after affects. We will deal with them and brace ourselves for the next round.
