Emma Clarke

Survivor

Hi guys, here’s a bit of my story. End of Feb 17 I went to hospital with a UTI I thought but it turned out was a stone blocking my tube to the bladder. Within 34 hours I was seriously ill to the point doctors had to shock my heart. My lung had collapsed and I woke in ICU.

All my family had said good bye as hospital had told them to. I woke up not long after. I hadn’t heard of sepsis until it happened to me. If it wasn’t for the doctor’s quick thinking, my 3 girls would have been left with no mum. I think an angel was watching over me that time because I remember being led in a bed, drugs drips and all sorts in me, and to this day I swear I heard a nurse say to an other I’m going to room 19 to tell the man why he’s woken up with no legs. This make me realise, wow I’m lucky I’ve got me. From then on I made a pact with myself to get better quick.

Six days later I left hospital after having to be shocked in the theatre to bring me back, to ICU, and all my family saying good-bye to going home. On the way out a doctor said “Emma, we honestly don’t know how you’ve done. It’s a miracle,” so I told him my story about the man and the nurses talking. The doc said Emma we haven’t and never have had a man who’s lost his legs. I think it was my angel watching me giving this string crazy Leo, a gentle remind that I was lion and always got back up xx

Still not 1oo% better but I’m grateful I’m alive.
