Demetrias Gray

Survivor

On Jan 1, 2016, my husband felt like he had the flu so we started treating it with cold and flu meds. On Jan 3 he got in the shower and his legs buckled and he almost fell. I rushed him to Brandon Regional Hospital where they performed blood work. That’s when the doctor came back and told us my husband was dying because sepsis had done attacked his organs and it had already attacked his blood stream.

It had shut down his kidneys already and was making his way to his heart and if they didn’t get a IV in right away and start pumping antibiotics. that in 24 hours he would be dead. He spent 2 months in the hospital and 3 weeks in rehab because he had to learn to walk again.. After he was released from rehab, he had to dialysis for 6 months and after that he regained full kidney function. It’s been 1 year and 7 months since sepsis almost took my husband out but by the grace of God he made a full recovery and he is doing great.
