Survivor

On July 15th, 2018 I felt a strange crampy feeling in the pit of my stomach. I didn’t think it was serious but felt bad enough to go to the ER. After many tests they discovered I had a bile duct infection with stones. This led to sepsis. The stones were removed endoscopically and stents installed. After 6 days in the hospital being treated with IV antibiotics I was discharged with oral antibiotics. I returned to the hospital on August 16th to have the stents removed. Actually up to this time I was feeling fairly good.

When I got home after the stent removal I found I was weak and exhausted. I lost my appetite and lost quite a bit of weight in a very short time. This is being written on September 5th, 2018 and I still feel bad. Tired. Weak. Exhausted. Worried. I’m just venting now and wondering where this will lead since many of the stories I read regarding sepsis survivors are frightening.
