Darron Delaney

Survivor

Hurricane Harvey hit the Houston area August 27, 2017. I was so relieved that I survived, and my friends loved ones and home we’re safe. Only God knew then less than a month later I would be lying on my back in a coma. September 23rd, Saturday evening, I left work feeling fine nothing was wrong. Glad to be home after a day’s work, I had dinner and relaxed. As I prepared for bed I did not realize my whole world was about to change.

Before I got to my bedroom I began to shake , a frightening chill going through my body. I yelled down the hall to my loved one, something’s wrong, I’m shaking, I’m cold. That was the last I remember. As I came to, I saw with my beautiful mother walking by my bed, and there was my father and sister and I’m only wondering with my mind in a fog, “What’s going on?” I remember looking down and seeing my fingers, they were literally black, I did not know what to think. After a few weeks it was explained to me that vasopressors were used to restore all my organs as my blood pressure had fell to nothing. Vasopressors draw all the blood to the center of your body and kills the cells of your extremities.

Yes I lost my fingers and toes. But the good news is I’m here to tell you my story. God was not ready for me yet.. I am so excited to tell you that after 7 months of hospitalization and rehabilitation, I am walking, healing and back to life.

I am so blessed to be with a company that held a job that I love, and I’m back to work. Waiting on prosthetics; I am confident, I will take back with much life as I can. Thank you all my loved ones and dear friends for your prayers. (Sepsis and Amputations)
