Survivor

Well I’ve survived sepsis twice in my life. The first time I got sepsis was when I was 11 years old. I kept getting sick i couldn’t keep anything down. I was later sent to the hospital and received treatment although I didn’t go pee for a day. I got to go home a week later with no problems.

Then in December of 2018, I started developing a cough. I thought it was nothing but my body was telling me otherwise. The highest my temperature got was 105.4 and I just kept getting worse. I kept thinking I would get better with time but I was so wrong.

I progressively got worse and one morning I told my parents I was going to the doctor to get some answers and the doctor found out I had pneumonia all in my left lung and sent me to the hospital. (Sepsis and Pneumonia) They ran tests on me and found out I had sepsis. I was placed in an ICU step-down floor with a heart monitor on me. I was scared. I thought I was going to die but within 4 days I was released from the hospital and it took me 2 more weeks to fully recover.

I hope I never have to experience this again because it’s scary but I thank God I’m alive today to tell my story.
